I received an e-mail earlier that I really didn’t have an answer for. I was hoping you guys , my readers, can help her out!
Hi there!I came across your blog when searching for painted marble – GREAT job with your bathroom update!!! I have been wanting to try this in one of my bathrooms, too, and I was just wondering if your countertops were laminate or if they were cultured marble to begin with?I read the carrara painting tutorial on Gorgeous Shiny Things’ website, and her countertops also look great but they are laminate…I am thinking about doing this on cultured marble but I haven’t found any tutorials yet for this, and I don’t even know if it’s something that can be painted on. I’d love to hear what your countertop surface was when you get a free minute………thanks in advance so much for sharing your beautiful bathroom reno!!Erin
I found a beautiful faux marble countertop tutorial on Gorgeous Shiny Things . I tried her method and it worked perfectly! However, I started with a laminate counter surface.
Erin is looking to refinish her cultured marble countertops.
What do you think? Do you have any suggestions for Erin?

I think you can paint cultured marble. This is the product to use: http://www.gianigranite.com
Use zinsser bullseye oil based primer -sticks to glossy surfaces and no sanding is required. You can then use latex or acrylic paints and if it is for a bathroom, I plan on sealing with verathane for floors since it will take the abuse.
