Each day I’m finding there is an increasing need for a work space in my home; A place to pay bills, write my blog posts, create stories for magazines, etc. I find that I spend more time running around gathering supplies to finalize my projects than I do actually working. Can you relate? First things first: a desk. A large majority of people’s first thought would be to purchase a run-of-the-mill-mass-producced-desk. I crave something with character, something unique to home. When I spotted a kitchen table on a local yard sale site, I knew right away it was born to be my desk.
If you think about it, it’s not too far off to imagine a kitchen table as a desk. It’s already the sufficient work space height. This particular table was a table size that I haven’t really seen before. I have an used area of my living room and this table is the perfect size to fit right into that space and the price point was just right at only $35.
Seeing as how the shape and size was exactly what I envisioned, there wasn’t much else I needed to aside from transforming it into my style. This country style is cute, but I’m looking for more of an aged look.
A quick sand to remove all of the shine and give paint a better grip, I gave it a good 3 coats of white paint. Then sanded away some of the edges to give it a natural wear look.
A small effort for such a cute transformation, but what’s that you say? You want more? Don’t worry. We are creating much more for this space. Be sure to subscribe below to get part II in your in-box!
