Yesterday , I broke the news about my ginormous huge gargantuan …..well you get the point….challenge:
The worlds ugliest bathroom make-over. Budget? I get zero. zilch. nada, to make-over this
First thing’s first :
What HAS to stay?
tile – If I started ripping away tile, the drywall would be too badly damaged to repair without moolah.
floor- a small piece of linoleum or even laminate wood flooring wouldn’t cost very much for this space. But, again, I have no money to put into it. So, I have to work with what I have.
The mystery hole- drywall would have to be used to patch this space, I have none.
toilet, shower, sink, vanity – Much too expensive to replace
electrical – no use removing what doesn’t work if I can’t re-patch the drywall.
What can go?
Wallpaper- wall paper is fairly easy to remove . All you need is something to scrape with and a bottle of 50/50 fabric softener and water.
shower curtain- I think I can come up with a replacement
Not too much can actually leave this space, which is where my challenge lies.
The blue and white tile staying put, I realize I have to use blue in the space . So, that was my starting point.
There are also some blue tones in the floor. I would try to find a way to mesh the two together.
After ripping off the wallpaper I discovered a lot of the wall paper glue wouldn’t come off the wall easily and ended up damaging some of the wall. I did ,however, have some drywall mud. Now I have to wait until that dries.
While I was waiting for the drywall mud to dry I stared at the space asking it to give me inspiration.
I hated the floor. How was I going to make it work? I even realized , at some point, that it was laid crooked . nice.
Then it hit me! I had an awesome idea.
You’ll have to wait to find out what I have up my sleeve.
Until then, Here is a little glimpse .
Enjoy!
Even in it’s dingy , cave like appearance ; It’s looking better already. Isn’t it?

Wow looks 100 percent better with just what you've done! LOL…can't wait to see the finished product!
We're totally on the same wavelength about that floor…as I was reading the post, I was thinking, “she should paint over that vinyl–that'd be a free way to make it more neutral!” And then when I scrolled to the next picture, there it was with primer (or maybe paint already?) on it! LOL
Amy…thank you so much for visiting my blog and featuring me on Facebook. I appreciate every single thing you said. So sweet.
Oh, and I can not wait to see what you do with your bathroom. I am sure it will be amazing. Have fun. Bobbie
I can't wait to see what you do! Looking better!
Looking goooood!
You painted your tile? You can paint tile?????!!!! Seriously. I think my big bathroom might actually top yours for ugliness, though. What a fun project. You'll definitely make this shine!
