Coffee. We crave it, need it, must have it. In this post I’m going to share my newest coffee bar that I created out of an old hand-me-down particle board book shelf. Keep Continue reading to see the amazing transformation and find out how you can have freshly roasted coffee beans delivered to your door (for free!)
Legend has it that a 9th century Ethiopian goat herder discovered coffee by accident when he noticed how crazy the beans were making the goats.
I wouldn’t have been the fist person to try them, but I’m glad someone did.
Teddy Roosevelt was known to drink up to a gallon of coffee a day!
I love coffee, but I don’t think I’ll be drinking that much any time soon. Wow!
Every morning I try to wake up before my husband or the kids just so I can go in, brew my coffee, enjoy the first sip, and just have a “me moment.” That one little part of my day helps the rest of my day run smoothly. I can’t seem to function without it. Do you have “me moments” that keep you refreshed?
Since coffee is my little treat to myself I like to have a special little place for it. My original idea was to create a baking center/coffee bar combined. That didn’t work out as planned so I had to find a piece of furniture that was just the right size to place next to my baking center.
The only thing I could find that was a decent size was this hand-me-down bookshelf.
It has seen better days. This wasn’t exactly the comforting look that I was going for. You all know what I did next….got out the paint!
First, this piece was too tall for comfort. I batted my eyelashes at my husband in the hopes that he would help me on this and make this piece shorter. He complied, against his will. Using a jigsaw he cut the top portion of the bookshelf off, adjusted the shelfs, and then used a nail gun to keep them in place. I wanted to ensure this piece would be good and sturdy.
Now, I realize it seems kind of silly to make this piece shorter then add feet to make it taller. I have this thing about furniture sitting on the floor. I’m not sure why, but I think a room appears cleaner when furniture pieces have space underneath of them. Is that totally strange? The feet also give it more of a custom look and almost makes it appear like a vintage piece.
These little legs came off of an old stool that was also a hand-me-down/unwanted piece. It had seen better days. I really liked the little legs on it and knew they would come in handy. These can also be found at hardware stores. They usually run around $10 a piece. Thank goodness these were free!
After a good scrub and some paint I added a curtain to hide my coffee, extra supplies, and jugs of water.
The storage rack above was purchased at Hobby Lobby at %50 off a few months ago. I was excited to finally use it and it provides a ton of storage in all of it’s little metal baskets. This is where I store my tea bags, hot chocolate, apple cider, and other things. Everything is right within reach for my before-caffeine-trying-to-prepare-coffee-without-caffeine moments.
Again, I like to keep things raised. I used a cooling rack in this case to raise my beautiful french press and accessories. Do you absolutely adore this french press?
The Frieling french press provides a pure taste sensation and brings awe to the coffee bar with its authentic timeless design and quality. It only takes 4 minutes to create the perfect cup of hot coffee (or cold!) Fill the press with ground coffee and hot water, place the lid/plunger unit on top and steep for 4 minutes. Then slowly press the plunger down. The Frieling french press keeps hot drinks hot and cold ones cold with its double-wall insulation.
